Category: Let's talk
Many of us have a topic we feel strongly about, and many more we either don't have an oppinion on, or that don't affect us strongly enough to find out about it and so be informed about. For me, the former is, as many of you know, the Palestinian struggle to gain back their country from the Israeli regime. I am affected by other race and equality issues, (although the Palestinian struggle goes beyond those two issues), but not as strongly as I do about Palestine.
One thing I am not affected by very much at all is the seemingly high rate of suicides in a town near to where I live. Perhaps I should be, perhaps not, I don't know. I only know how I feel, not how I should feel.
Recently, I posted a topic, in news and views, to which one response was, "What about this issue? or that issue? or this issue? I don't see you writing about those". I could answer that question in the topic concerned, but I wanted people's general oppinion really. My whole purpose for posting the things I do is to draw people's attention to the struggle of one nation, and not to put yet another discussion up among many. If people want to discuss lots of different issues then they are just as entitled as I am to post the things I do on one topic.
So, over to you guys. Am I right? Wrong? If so, why? Also what affects you? What doesnt' affect you? Hmm, perhaps I should post a survey instead, lol.
Oh and I am well aware this leaves me open for criticism, so go ahead, pull me to pieces if you so wish. I didnt' say anywhere in this post that any of the things you say will make me change my way of doing things, I am just interested in what people think, because I am interested.
Cheers,
Simon

You have the right to post your views and opinions on any topic, and the rest of us have the right to ignore your posts, read them and not comment, or read them and comment. I have to admit, although I check the boards every day, there are many topics I never read, either because the subject line makes me think it is about something I won't want to comment on or even read or because I have learned the hard way that certain people usually write about stuff I don't care about or that I don't like certain people and therefore have no interest in what they say.
I also admit to not liking to being drawn into controversial topics very often. Now sometimes I do and can be quite vocal and write many responses to one topic. But sometimes, after reading a post, I just feel like I don't want to get involved in that particular discussion. Maybe I disagree with it and just don't feel like defending my views. I'm not really sure what makes me like this. I tend to post jokes and lighter board topics and respond only to the lighter topics most of the time.
However, in actual discussions in person with friends and acquaintances, I am willing to get into almost any kind of discussion. But I think that is because feedback is immediate and being with people is just totally different than writing your opinions and feelings down on a message board and then waiting to see what happens.
I feel the same way as becky does. U have the right to post what u want simon.
I agree. You have the rite to post what you want Simon.
No one answered the main question here, so allow me to be first.
Ahem!
The topic that really effects and get me to rant or rather the category that does is:
Society/philosophy
I mean the politics, economics, thought patterns, morals, people’s reasoning, and philosophical groups such as conformists.
What I really don’t care about or care to discuss is religion.
